Your Residential Area
A residential area consists of a cluster of buildings with common features, services, and staffing. Students are encouraged to live beyond their building, enjoy nearby amenities, and get to know a wider circle of neighbors over meals and through programming. Areas enhance the residential experience by promoting equity across the entire housing portfolio while affording students a choice among housing models, location, and other considerations.
Dining and Vending
Dining
One advantage of living on campus is the close proximity to dining halls and campus convenience stores. Each of the residential dining commons features an all-you-care-to-eat menu with a wide range of choices. Meals are planned with students’ preferences and suggestions in mind and include a diverse range of healthy choices, traditional heartland entrees, ethnic selections, and vegetarian and vegan options. Every meal includes a choice of fresh fruit and beverages; lunch and dinner offer extensive salad and deli bars. In addition to the main dining commons, other on-campus dining options include residential cafes and two convenience stores ("c-stores"), and the Norris University Center.
Check out the page for up-to-date information on meal plans, weekly menus, nutrition, and hours for all dining locations.
Vending
Vending machines are located throughout campus academic and residential buildings. Auxiliary Services provides complete information on vending services including a list of locations, how to add money to your Wildcard, and contact information.
Area Desks
Area Desks provide staff support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Located at Allison, Sargent, Schapiro, and Willard, the desks are a hub of activity for residential students. Residents can obtain temporary access cards (see Access & Keys) if they are locked out, report an access issue with their Wildcard or electronic lock, complete room changes and express check-outs, rent various amenities (vacuums, sports equipment, etc.), and ask general questions to a Residential Services employee or Community Service Officer (CSO).
The person working the desk can also connect you to personnel serving on duty for emergency situations.
